Matt has been involved with Angling4Education since its founding,he is currently focusing on course development as well as being involved in the delivery of programmes across the service.

Matt has been working with disadvantaged and vulnerable Young People since 2003 ,he has a background in Youth Justice. During his 12 years as a Youth Justice Officer with West Sussex Youth Offending Service he has qualified with a Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (Youth Justice) and holds a level 4 Qualification in ‘Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Sector’. He is also qualified as a Trainer of Trainers with the Restorative Justice Foundation.

More recently, Matt has developed a keen interest in the Mental Health of Young People and the links between emotional wellbeing and the loss of opportunities to meet their potential in all aspects of life. He continues to work closely with Coastal West Sussex Mind (Mental Health Charity) looking at innovative ways of engaging Young People.

He has recently carried out training covering Self Harm, Suicide Prevention and Personality Disorders.

Matt holds a firm belief that some negative lifestyle choices and poor decision making by Young People can very often be attributed to low function in Emotional Literacy and poor Mental Health, and strives to raise awareness for those Young People who are sometimes misunderstood or even ‘labelled’ as poorly behaved and/or disruptive to other learners.
